How it all began

How it all began

My fitness journey began when I was a 17 year old High School Senior.

As a kid and teenager , I wasn't much of a physical specimen. I had no muscle and no confident presence. I was, by most measures a bit of a High School loser. The one thing I could do well from adolescence was hit a baseball. Playing baseball at an all-star level as a sophomore gave me a sense of identity and some much needed self-esteem.

I had no business playing High School football, but tried anyway and ended up injuring my shoulder while diving for a tackle. Long story short, my shoulder progressively worsened and, not knowing any better at the time, eventually required surgery. That surgery cost me my junior year of baseball, and I spiraled downhill fast. I drank alcohol, became a weekend smoker, and for a while tried to fit in with the stoners.

Then something wonderful happened during my senior year. A new coach fresh out of college came to teach and coach at our school. Unlike coaches I'd had before, who focused strictly on baseball skills, this new coach introduced a serious fitness component to our practices. We would run hard for 15-20 minutes and do aerobic work before ever touching a baseball.

Within about three weeks, I began noticing changes in both my body and mindset. I lost body fat. I became quicker and more athletic. I slept better. I ate better. I got along with my parents and with people in general better. I felt empowered. I was bitten by the fitness bug, and have been experimenting, learning and adjusting ever since.

Over the years, I've created Over40fitlife, Alternating Training, Heal Shoulders for Life, Tasty Turmeric, Beet Root Super Blend, Rubbing and Rolling, Flexing the Fulcrum, Healthy Recipes, and much more. Now having evolved into my sixties, I hope to share everything that I have learned with as many people as possible. All of my teachings come from personal experience and delivered through video demonstrations.

Fun Fact: As long as YouTube exists, my videos will continue to have a positive effect on human health long after I'm gone. The methods I teach are evergreen and will never become outdated, regardless of future medical or technological advances. www.over40fitlife.com
